Having attended four Churches, I dont feel like attending Churches any more. The television will do for now. Am i in order?
I have gave my life to Christ the year I got my Phd at Ahmadu Bello University Zaria Nigeria in 1994. I used to be a good Church man when i was in the North. People were more hosnest in the North. But my perception began to change when we came to Lagos and we started seeing "new Christianity". In my first church in Lagos, I was made a Head of Department and was almost becoming a deacon even when they barely know me. I guess the church was carried away because they call me Dr. I decided to quit the Church because i knew deep within me that it should not be so. The second church, i quit when I saw many discrepancies like the pastor choosing his friends into sensitive positions inspite of the fact that those people were very well known as the wrong people. The third Church at Agege, I left because they were busy sleeping with themselves and the pastor behaved as if nothing was happening. The fourth Church, a top deacon impregnated a member's wife and the pastor said it was a rumour. Now in all these, I was not the only person who left and i was not instigating anybody to leave. My wife, a teacher at a Polytechnic would say she is not bothered by all these.
I now know that all Churches have one challenge or the other, depending on how close your ear is to the ground. I know there is no perfection in mankind but shall we then condone all these sins because we want to be church members? I have resolved to stay at home, watch TV from one channel to the other, including DSTV and when it comes to giving offering and tithe, i can drop it in any Church and give alms to the poor. Am i in order?

Pastor Wale's response.
You are right. Every church has its own problem. However there is a need to strike the balance lest you tilt to the other extreme. God's word encourages us not to forsake the assembly of the brethren (Heb10:25). The truth remains that there are remnants of God's people gathered in under different auspices who believe and uphold the true values of God word in Lagos. Secondly, this pain could be an indication of God's purpose and leading for your life at this season or phase of your life.
