Gospel music maestro, Princess Anne Inyang of  Akanam Nkwe fame is billed to shake up her roots, Akwa Ibom and Cross River States this weekend as she launches two new albums entitled “Powered by God” and “Akanam Nkwe Xtra Recharged”.

The vivacious lady whose father hails from Akwa Ibom and mother, of Cross River State origins spoke to Showtime in Calabar while making preparations to launch her albums. Along with launching her albums, Anne is also celebrating her 10 years on stage and the governors of Akwa Ibom and Cross River States Obong Victor Attah and Mr. Donald Duke respectively are expected at the launch.

She made known that she would be performing live with friends like AITY Denis Inyang, Mbasekei Ayomobi, Ethel Odungide, Femi (CMX) and Okon. Two stand-up comedians, Rechargeable and Sandy are also billed for the event in Uyo and Calabar.
Princess Anne who unconsciously exhibits a childlike vulnerability that makes you want to see her not only as Oprah Winfrey, but also as Whitney Houston and the poet, Maya Angelou is however in a class of her own - a committed Gospel Singer.

You could see her as the three famous American ladies, not because the others are singers (in fact only Whitney Houston is a singer among the two) but because of the pathos they generate when they speak about their experiences and what they've been through and how they've endearvoured to make positive use of unpleasant circumstances.

For Princess Anne, one of the new albums, entitled Powered by God  “is based on what happened to me sometime ago. Somebody threatened my life and that incident triggered the song.” She went on and explained that such threats can't bite because she has the power of God in her, hence the song.
While speaking to Showtime, the singer remembered her youth, how she had dreamt as a youth to become a dancer and singer and how the dream has come true.”

According to her, “as a child, anytime my mum sent me on an errand, I always turned the errand into a song on my way to deliver the errand. I can also remember that we had a grandfather clock in our living room when I was growing up. Oftentimes I would face the clock and I would be dancing to the pendulum. My mum reminded me of an incident too. She told me how when I was young, a particular lady visited us and when the lady left, I told her (my mum) that I would like to be like that lady because of  the way she walked.

I always knew as a child that I would be in the limelight. I studied banking, however music got hold of me because I have passion for music.”

For younger people, she has a word of advice, “anything that is good, that is worthwhile and you
have passion for it, go for it. For instance, I studied banking, I was in banking but I had no passion for banking. When I was in the bank, I had so much burden that had nothing to do with banking. In 1994, while still in the bank, God spoke to me to go into full time music and I had to leave the banking industry. Now I enjoy what I do absolutely. I have passion for music.”

Anne is especially grateful to God for the success of her music ministry especially considering all the benefits derivable from the ministry. The singer has a lot to be grateful to God for, for instance, her song Akanam Nkwe has taken her to England, Poland, Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Kenya and South Africa to mention a few.

She chipped in a word on the changes she noticed in her home state, Cross River. According to her, “I am proud of what Mr. Duke has done here, I mean in turning this once desolate state into an international tourist resort, shifting the focus of the world to Cross River State. Anytime I come to Calabar, the difference is clear because it's a very clean envinroment despite the meagre oil revenue that comes to the state. He has something inside.” she added.

The launch will hold on Saturday, the 11th of November, 2006 at the Ibom Hall in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State and at the Channel View Hotel in Calabar, Cross River State on the 12th of November, 2006.
