I agree to it that, Pastor Oritsajefor one of Nigeria's respected man of God, like every other Nigerian, is entitle to his own opinion based on his personal assessment of Mr. President (Chief Olusegun Obasanjo), especially where he states "... let us be sincere with ourselves. This man has done well for Nigeria. There is the fear that the person coming next may take us to 'business as usual'. There is the fear that anybody coming may end up depleting our foreign reserve. Honestly, there is that genuine fear. If there is no conflict between the executive and legislature, that means there is some form of compromise. It could be a rub my back, I rub your back affair. But that is not the case in this government. What has happened has shown that there are checks and balances ..."
I strongly disagree with the renowned Pastor on his assessment of the present administration, led by Chief Olusegun Obasanjo. Economically, Nigeria has just been rated 3rd poorest nation on the surface of the earth, this is, in spite of her vast resources both natural and human.
The fact that, we have had, a relatively stable run 7 years, is not the least to say that Nigerians are better welfared. Let us leave sycophancy and be a lil bit of critical. I submit that, Nigeria , if it has been well managed by Mr President, must have been much better than the way it is, instead.
On the 3rd Term issue, which appears to capture to a large extent, your interview with the Pastor and his assessment thereof. I also do not agree with my Pastor Oritsejafor. The PRESS did a wonderful job, and I wonder what would have been if it were otherwise.
It is the President himself, who rather heated-up the polity by only declaring his interest for another term, only on the use of body language rather than speak out. I sincerely owe a lot of thanks to the body of Press and the doggedness of the journalists not to be cowed by any act of intimidation.
May God continually strenghten the Press on their good works and the quest to helping Nigeria get a leader ("God feared Leader"), who would be able to take us out of the woods.
Jimmy E.,
Nigeria.
