Here, Nigerians speak their minds on the prospects of Rev. Chris Okotie emerging as president and what he should do as president.
In our editorial
, we expressed our minds on his candidacy. What do you have to say about the chances of Rev. Chris Okotie?

For me, Okotie cant win an election in a country like Nigeria, at least for now when issues are not involved. I have nothing against his candidacy nor against his person. I voted him at the last elections. But well intentioned people like him can't play politics the way Governor Bola Tinubu will do against PDP in Lagos.

Moreover, Okotie does not seem to have the political machinery on ground. Elections in a country like Nigeria where people go into it to steal so as to guarantee tomorrow for themselves and their families is too rough for a grammarian like Okotie. Here, its 'Naira for Naira, stockfish for stockfish'. Okotie should wait for the next 50-years to play a gentleman politics he is preaching. Its a pity though I will still vote him in the next elections. I don't mind if my vote is lost.
Dr. Peter Oluwanisola,
Jos Nigeria.

Except the Lord wants him there. Except the Lord wants him there. The biggest pain in this issue is how many Christians will vote him? He seem to have great ideas. I have watched him on TV several times but the issues involved in NIgerian politics AS AT NOW is bigger than what Okotie is looking at.

Did he listen to what Rashidi Ladoja said Lamidi Adedibu told him when he was to contest? If not, let him ask Rashidi Ladoja again. Can Okotie bribe? Can he employ thugs? Can he share ghana-must-go? Can he lie? Can he deceive? I doubt it. Okotie is too refined. Let him wait till politics is refined.

But then, I am happy that we have people like him making clarion calls for sanity.
Alloy Ibeabuchi,
Lagos.

Rev. Okotie is not serious. He has no visible party machinery on ground. Grammar does not win elections. Ghana-must-go does.
Mercy, Lagos.

As far as most of us are concerned, none of the people you mentioned are presidential candidate in the real sense of it. They are going no where and have nothing to offer. Have faith. God will save us as He has always done.
Stella Odife

If the Lord will deliver us, he can use just anybody. It is a good news that Pastor Chris has offered himself to be used by God in political arena. I have nothing against this except that what machinery has he on ground.
James Duke,
Lagos.

Pastor Chris needs to do more work if he hopes to make an impact. Forming his party is a great step but he must be ready to join the fray the way it is. To say he will not have to do it the way they are doing it will leave him no where.
Yinka Obateru,
Accra Ghana.

Thank you Bola for bringing stories like this to some of us outside Nigeria with no access to Nigerian Newspapers. I was happy to read that Pastor Okotie is contesting but how can he win? We Christians are our own enemies. If Okotie will contest, will Pastor Chris Oyakhilome and the Synagogue man vote him? Will member of their churches vote him? These are the people who should form the vanguard of his electoral campaign. I have not read that the PFN is supporting him or CAN is supporting him. It makes me sad that we are not overtly supporting our own.
Elizabeth Amadi,
Bonn.
