National Theatre
Remains the symbol of FESTAC'77

More often than not, some Christian opinion leaders have posited that the Festival of Arts and Culture (FESTAC) which held in Nigeria in 1977 marked the beginning of Nigeria's spiritual problem.

Those who subscribe to this view maintain that participating nations of the world brought all their gods and deposited them in Nigeria. And God, in His characteristic jealousy and hatred for idolatry, began to punish Nigeria.

The nation, according to them was destined to be a great nation judging by the nascent oil boom which she enjoyed then. It was so rosy for the nation that the then Head of State, General Yakubu Gowon (rtd) was quoted to have said Nigeria's problem was not money, but how to spend it.

Shortlty after FESTAC, they said, Nigeria's decline began. In fact, five years after, President Shehu Sahagari declared austerity measure. From auterity measure, we gradually graduated into a sinking nation. How do we get out of this?

The QUESTION is
WAS FESTAC A SPIRITUAL CURSE OR BLESSING ON NIGERIA?
Where did the rain began to drench us as a nation?
