What deliverance is all about can be explained in a three-day seminar, but for a brief explanation, let us take this. After someone gets born again. Some demonic forces refuse to leave some people. They try to stay on. Even though that person had been liberated, and I can appreciate that.

I can give you some practical example. For instance, after Idi-Amin had been ousted from office in Uganda , some of his followers were going around extorting money and trying to behave as if Idi-Amin was still in power. It happened there, let me tell you another example from the story of America and the slave trade. At a point in time, there was what was called the emancipation proclamation in which slaves because automatically free. But some slaves did not believe it.

They found it difficult to believe that they were now free and they could just go away. So they remained under their master. Some did not know, some of them were not even able to hear the news. So they remained under their masters.

Now, for the same reasons here, either for lack of knowledge, or you know but you did not believe, many people are still cheated by the devil. Let me tell you a little story, friend. When I was in form one, there was a lady. The lady is in Abeokuta now. We were class mates but you see, she had been in Form Two (we call it Form Two in those days), in some other school before she came to start all over from Form One in our school. So she was bigger than the rest of us.

But at Comprehensive Aiyetoro, where I schooled, everybody in Form One put on white (because your uniform was not yet ready )and those in Lower Six, that's HSC1(Higher School Certificate One) also put on white. This lady would enter the class and tell us to: “keep quiet and stop making noise. Stand up, raise up your hands, shut your eyes and open your mouth”.

All of us were there, our mouths were open, we did not know she was our class mate. The day we knew she was our classmate, we refused to do that thing. That is the same way the devil cheats some people, because they do not know what God has given them, the devil cheats them for a long time until they discover.

Deliverance is all about helping people who are being cheated, out of being cheated or educating people who did not know that. “See what God has done for you” and then helping them out of that kind of situation. It is wonderful, it is good to help people out of that situation but I must say this; to continue creating an impression that almost everybody needs a deliverance and that there are some special cadre of people referred to as deliverance ministers who are the only ones who can get you out of the trouble is not correct. That is not correct.

We do not have the space now to explain again using some other illustrations we have used on this programme. But you can be delivered, helped out of your situation and then educated because the bible says “If a Spirit has gone out of a person, it goes round looking for places to rest, if it cannot find, it returns to that house”. Be educated properly and then you can live a fairly normal life.
