Sight, that is ability to see, is no doubt very important to man in life. It is obvious that a sighted person has better advantage than a man without sight. That is not to say that a man without sight can not make it in life. At least we have seen some people, people such as Hellen Keller, a famous American, who are blind and successful. In the same vein, we have millions of sighted people who have failed and are still failing. That implies you can be sighted and be disadvantaged.

When a sighted person is failing when a blind person is succeeding, there is a problem. And one problem that has seriously plagued many sighted people in business, life and ministry is short-sightedness. In every day usage, this means lacking foresight. As real, solid and prosperous as their vocations and calls are, they couldn't achieve much in their respective endeavour because of lack of foresight.

Having foresight means having vision. Because vision is the seeing of a sight. It is the unfolding of a divine plan as it relates to the individual minister or believer.

That you have a talent, special grace or call does not translate to automatic success in it. It only implies the guarantee that God has a purpose for you in His scheme of things. We have seen so many called ministers, talented individuals and professionals who failed in their individual pursuit. These people can't be said to be successful. As Christians, we must understand this difference to be able to make head-way in our life and ministry today.

Short-sightedness, in medical circle is the ability to see clearly only what is close. The direct opposite of short-sight is long-sight. Long-sightedness is the ability to see clearly only what is at a distance. That is having foresight. Having foresight means having vision. Because vision is the seeing of a sight. It is the unfolding of a divine plan as it relates to the individual minister or believer. Vision is the discovery of a set plan. It is having a supernatural insight and foresight into one's future.

Abraham once suffered short-sightedness before God rescued him in the book of Genesis 13: 14-15. “And the Lord said to Abram, after Lot had separated from him: Lift your eyes now and look from the place where you are - northward, southward, eastward and westward; for all the land which you see I give to you and your descendants forever”. Prior to this encounter, his vision of why God called him was lacking and this led him into some unwholesome acts, which successfully burged him down in one place. But when God took him on sight-seeing, his life and ministry changed for better.

“What would be worse than being blind?” She answered,
“To have sight with no vision”.

How far you can see for your life and ministry is how far you will go or achieve. If you don't see it, you can neither pursue it nor possess it. If you must climb a ladder, you must first look to its top. You must have foresight, the ability to see clearly what is at a distance not what is close or immediate. Every manifestation is a product of vision. Vision is the key to manifestation.

Hellen Keller, a famous American, though blind and deaf, was asked “what would be worse than being blind?” She answered, “To have sight with no vision”. Success in life and ministry begins with a vision. No vision, no progress, no result. This is the era of vision. Men and women must see visions (Joel 2 : 28).

Children of God, how far can you see in your life and ministry? It is wasteful to run your life or ministry without vision. Where there is no direction there cannot be progress. “Where there is no vision, the people perish” (Proverb 29:18). You need to locate your direction by vision. Success in life and ministry begins with vision.
