It is better to spend money to build souls for Christ

rather than building Cathedrals and Castles

- Nick Medo Uwa

PASTOR NICK MEDO-UWA

PASTOR NICK MEDO-UWA is one of the peculiar instruments God is using in this endtime of the harvest. He is highly anointed to preach the totality of the Gospel: prosperity of the Spirit, Soul and body with practical proofs. He is in high demand at church revivals, citywide crusades, seminars and conferences across the nation and abroad. He is also a member of Chaplain Fellowship of Nigeria. Pastor Nick Medo-Uwa is the senior pastor of Pentecostal Canaanland Mission with its headquarter in Lagos - Nigeria and also the President of "Medo -Uwa World Outreach". Married to Mrs. Ebere and blessed with Children, Nick has travelled round the world to preach the gospel of our Lord. In this interview, he discussed how he was called to the minstry, his vision and why he does not believe in spending much money in building edifices rather than building men to do great exploits for Christ. Excerpts.

How did you come about this vision of accepting to serve in the capacity of the General overseer/ founder of Pentecostal Canaanland Mission?
In 1994, I received the mandate from God for this great commission and vision. God gave me the mandate to set the captives free. In a revelation, I saw small great number of people inside a deep valley with chains in their hands, necks and Legs. Initially I wanted to jump into this deep valley to rescue them but God said no Just speak the word and they will be set free, then I spoke the word and they were all set loose. There were jubilations everywhere. Since then, I knew that God was up to something in my life. So, I decided to start the preparations to answer the call of God. Before then, I was a successful businessman, not that I was frustrated out of business to answer His call.

What informed your choice of name" Pentecostal Canaanland Mission", why not Jubilation Assembly so to speak, because people actually jubilate when they were set free?
I was in a revelation when God told me about the-name 2.00a.m to be precise. Personally, I had my own name which was "GOD'S EMBASSY" but God said no, let it be Pentecostal Canaanland Mission. Initially, I did not understand the reason for the name until after 1 year when I began to see the reason why God gave that name, and how the ministry would have failed if I had adopted the GOD'S EMBASSY.

If I am not mistaken, the church is 11yrs old this year, that means night of wonders has been on every Friday for 11yrs non-stop. How do you cope in terms of strength?
I believe that every servant of God has grace in his/her own 'area of operation. It is the grace God has given to me, as a matter of fact, I always pray and looked forward to Friday's so that I could be used of God in the night of wonders. The Holy Ghost always refresh and renew my strength and also empower me during the service of night of wonders though it has not been easy. Funny enough, I had never fell prey to any kind of illness neither do I have a card in any of the hospitals within or outside Nigeria . See, there is one thing I believe strongly, when God gives an instruction for an assignment, He will always make available the grace to accomplish it. God always supply me with the strength and grace to operate without tiredness, this point to the simple fact that God is backing us up seriously.

What are the exact visions of the ministry?
The visions are simply God directed and God motivated. In fact, it is a global vision to reach the world for Christ, to bring Prosperity to the body of Christ and prepare the saints for rapture; they are all about raising great spiritual armies for the end time harvest.

What are your plans and prospects towards the increase and expansion of the church? I mean expansion in terms of building a befitting church structure.
By God's grace and strength, we are going to raise a befitting church structure that will conveniently accommodate 2,000 people. Even though I don t believe in building a cathedral, but we shall have a befitting place of worship.

Why don't you want to build a cathedral, or is it a sin to build a cathedral?
No it is not a sin. In my own point of view, I don't think it is necessary to spend money to build a cathedral or to build a castle, but rather having a passion to spend more money to build souls for Christ. Re-orientating the mind set of people for the kingdom of God so as to depopulate the Kingdom of hell. Most importantly, to raise people and touch the lives of men and women, these are all what we want to spend money for. There is a difference between the cathedral and building a place of worship, w(2 only plan according to God's direction to build a place of worship. More so, the Ministry equally has the plan to spend money to organize crusade in the cities, interior villages, towns and all nook and crannies of the world where the word of faith has not been heard. So give me that money, I will rather turn it to bringing more souls for Christ.

Have you at anytime honoured any ministerial invitation outside Nigeria.
Yes, I have. In 2004, I honored an invitation to minister in South Africa . In 2006, I underwent what I may call an apostolic tour to five countries. I ministered in Indian (Banglow). I also ministered in Sri Lanka seating about 15,000 members. I moved to Singapore and Malaysia all in 2006. I was ordained an Apostle by group of Pastors under a unique fellowship, because of the grace of God they saw upon my life.

My experiences were uniquely awesome. I saw and met people that are hungry for God more than what we have in Nigeria . A lot of physical manifestations of God's power. Instant healings and the like with naked testimonies to back them up.

Can you narrate the story of one of the outstanding miracles during these apostolic tour?
Like I said earlier, there were so many miracles, but one of the most outstanding miracles was a woman with heart disease. She has had heart surgery operation twice with no tangible results not until she came in contact with power of God. I was invited to her house, after interacting with her from the word of faith for up to one hour, I prayed a little and she became healed. As a matter of fact, I had my dinner in their house, funny enough it was the same woman that prepared the meal. Listen, the miracle you need is in the word of God, every other miracle outside the word of God is magic. Believe the word of God and the miracle of God will show up in your life.

Briefly do you have any intention of floating or planting branch churches?
Yes. There are plans of doing that. All we are trying to do is waiting patiently on God to speak before we act as the ministry believes strictly in the leading of the Holy Spirit before we can embark on any operation or activities. Presently, we have one branch located at Ikotun one of the most busiest and populated towns in the ancient city of Lagos , Nigeria . The branch church is doing well as new members are being recorded in every services. Thank God for the life of the pastor in charge, Pastor Mathias Samuel.

Do you have any plans for future developmental projects like building schools, hospitals etc?
Yes, these developmental projects are one of the dreams of this ministry. I personally look forward to seeing them come through. The church intends to have schools (nursery, primary, secondary including universities) where people will be built to build the nation. A hospital well furnished with state of the art facilities, where people will come with pain and they go back with relief and happiness, where pregnant women will come with pregnancy and they will deliver peacefully.

I love being straightforward, being original, standing by my words at all times. I also believe in the importance of sound relationship with God. Above all, I don't joke with integrity, trust, accountability, friendliness, excellence, passion, care for members, pastors and every other person that comes across me.

Let me take you away from spiritual matters, lets talk about how you relax, do you relax alone or with your family?
My mode of relaxation is very simple. I give a day out of the week (Tuesday) for my family and myself. I watch Christian movies, interact with my family, sometimes I take them out if they are back from school and when they are on holidays. I also unwind by reading Christian literatures. I listen to local and international news. Above all, I also derive pleasure in relaxing through prayers. I don't forget to also do my exercise so as to keep fit.

Finally, Pastor can you tell me more about your family?
By the special grace of God, I am married to my beautiful wife Pastor (Mrs) Ebere Medo-Uwa, she hails from Enugu state; the eastern part of the country; Nigeria and we are blessed with three children, a boy and two girls. The only boy happens to be my 1st child Obiora (Confidence) by name, followed by Victoria and Fait . My wife has indeed taken the position God has placed her, the position of a helpmeet. On daily basis, she provides that encouragement I need to move ahead in this difficult task. By the special grace of God and to the best of my knowledge, my family and I are living happily.
