THE CHRISTIAN WOMEN FELLOWSHIP (CWFI)

IN PERSPECTIVE

The Christian Women Fellowship International (CWFI) is a team committed to upholding the dignity and honour of womanhood universally, irrespective of age, status, nationality, race or denomination. It was founded by Archbishop Margaret Benson-Idahosa over 35 years ago. Since then, it has waxed strong in purpose and number. Currently, it has about 25,000 women from all over the country and much more from across the globe. By the special grace of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, women have been uplifted to lift up His blood stained banner. He has made us not just mothers of our families, but mothers of our nations, and indeed, mothers of the world. Our Lord and Eternal Master, Jesus Christ, fully recognizes the vital role we played in His Ministry and uses us effectively to glorify God.

HISTORY of CWFI
Christian Women Fellowship International [CWFI] as a Faith Based Non-Governmental Organization, as stated earlier was founded in 1974. The CWFI Vision is over 35 years old today. Since then CWFI has helped Christian women to understand their calling, and the potential God has deposited in them. CWFI is well established in over 30 states in Nigeria and seven other countries in Africa- Ghana, Togo, Cameroon, Benin Republic , Cote d'Voire, South Africa and Zaire . CWFI branches are also visible in France, Russia, United Kingdom, Japan, German , UK, Malaysia and U.S.A. CWFI is a trans-denominational organization for women who believe the gospel of Jesus Christ. Her activities neither replace any formal/regular church service nor cancel activities of any member in their local churches or fellowships. Rather CWFI activities have continued to build up churches and fellowships by helping women to understand their calling in Christ Jesus and their place in God's scheme of things and the home. CWFI is also deeply committed to empowering women for personal and community development.

EVANGELISM
CWA contributes effectively to the primary work of the church, which is evangelism. CWFI organizes crusades as add-on to coferences and conventions and as single events in communities to preach the word of God, heal the sick and deliver them that are bound by satan by the power in the word of God. A true CWFI member is a Builder of the Body of Christ.
PRAYER AND COUNSELING SERVICES
CWFI organizes counseling and prayers for individuals and groups. We have counselors in the offices throughout the country who attend to those in need. CWFI Prayer Band consists of women trained and skilled in counseling and deliverance ministration.

RURAL MOBILE CLINIC
Our Rural Mobile Clinic, which was established in 2004, penetrates into the villages and hinterlands to prOVide basic medical care for women and their families. Members who are in the medical profession, volunteer their knowledge, time, energy and sometimes money to execute the programme. This project has been sustained by a dedicated team of praying and counseling women in the fellowship. By so doing CWFI holds the gospel on one hand and social responsibility the other.

CONVENTIONS AND CELEBRATIONS
Some of these meetings hold annually, bi-annually and quarterly on the follOWing geographical levels at which CWFI is organized: International, National, Zonal, Provincial, District, Chapter. Testimonies given at these meetings have always spurred the faith of many. In November the President General celebrates the birthday of all old women in CWFI and at Christmas she calls the vulnerable children from all orphanages, remand' homes, special children institutes to dine and dance with her. ECONOMIC EMPOWERMENT FOR WOMEN AND SKILL ACQUISmON.

In 2005, we started a Micro credit scheme to help women nationwide to establish and grow their businesses in order to economically empower them and alleviate the burden of poverty in our society. So far, we have successfully provided livelihood for about 250 women with the active participation of donor organizations (e.g. MTN, Associated Discount House) and individuals. Qualified and flourishing entrepreneurs do the selection, which is usually rigorous and conducted in a professional way. The skills acquisition centre is built to accommodate Industrial kitchen for cookery classes, Hair Dressing Salon, Sewing Institute, Soap making factory, Fishery.

CWFI RESTORATION CENTER
In pursuit of our goals, we have started the construction of a multimillion naira Rehabilitation Centre in Benin City tagged 'Restoration Centre. Upon completion, we expect to have the following: Hostels to prOVide temporary accommodation for battered and rehabilitated women, Lecture halls, Orphanage to house abandoned children, Sports centre, Counseling rooms, Administrative block, Multipurpose hall, an Auditorium that can seat up to 10,000.

CWFI IN THE COMMUNITY
CWFI at different levels organizes programmes to benefit her immediate community. With support of some funding agencies like the World Bank, and Global Fund, CWFI has been able to raise awareness on Girl Child and women education, HIV/AIDS and its Impact on Women and the Society, Trafficking of women and girls, and its hazards.
Through our in-depth Bible Teachings, women are taught to be functional in their Churches because they are "Saved to serve". CWFI believes in and is committed to upholding the sacredness and sanctity of marriage. CWFI points women to the importance of their divine roles as the Wives [Proverbs 19:14], Mothers [Proverbs 31:28] and Law Givers [Proverbs 6:20]. CWFI family living teachings make her members better mothers, wives and home builders.

ACCENT ON YOUTH
CWFI youth programme acknowledges and encourages every mother to train up her child the way she should go [Proverbs 22:6] and for youth to be God fearing in their words, thought and deeds. They are led to abhor evil and resist all attractions to evil and all appearances of evil. We reach out to the children from embryo. Holiday Programmes on Career Choice, Study Habits, Sexuality Education and HIV/AIDS are organized for youth at Provincial and Zonal levels.
