Cultism and Christianity

Welcome to September Edition. We hope you enjoyed our last edition.

* To observers of Christianity in Nigeria, so many things have happened that elicited tremendous controversies. One of them was the T.B. Joshua/Chris Okotie/Chris Oyakhilome imbroglio which occurred in late 2001/early 2002.

Elifeonline.com focuses on Cultism and Christianity, not necessarily to generate further acrimony between the three ministers but to give the dramatis personae, church members, press and Christians in general another opportunity to reflect on the controversy with a view to mending fences and correcting mistakes, if there were any.

* We extend the dimension of the story by looking into cultism at other levels- the universities and other churches. Pastor Muyiwa Awe, Africa's first Professor of Ionospheric Physics and co-founder of Pyrate Confraternity at Nigeria's prestigious University of Ibadan spoke with us on how the club that metamorphosed into a notorious cult was formed. Recently, he sought for forgiveness from God for kindling a fire that has now consumed the peace of the nation. He goes further to expose all other cult groups in our society.

* This edition also focuses on evangelism, how to win more non-Christians to the Christian faith (Please Christianity is not a religion) Our columnist, Bimbo Oladunjoye (Mrs) also writes on the veracity behind the continuous assertion that all other religions worship the same God as the Christian faith. We also bring you a story of an Alhaja who met Christ in Mecca.

* One of our contributors, Deaconess Bukky Iyanda went on pilgrimage to Mecca. She was stunned to see Israeli girls in skimpy dresses. Where is morals in a holy land? Deborah Olowe writes in from Abuja on Christianity then and now. She wonders if the Nigerian Church has not contaminated the faith. Others also speak on how we do it: Sonny Okosuns assesses Nigerian church again, Pastor Zewedi takes a look at the Kenya Church, while the church growth expert, Dr. Francis Bola Akin-John again looks at 20 Enemies of Church Growth

* We also discovered the first bible in Nigeria at the palace of Alake of Egbaland in Abeokuta, Ogun State. Rev. Billy Graham speaks to spinsters, Toun Soetan, a Nigerian gospel music star speaks on his early days and a woman won a car gift for cleaning the church restroom speaks on service to God.

* We also serve you clean Christian jokes, African Proverbs, Quotes, Christian News from Africa. We rely on your contributions to fill these new pages, so feel free to send in your news items, quotes, etc. The pages are updated every Saturday. This is a promise we shall keep.

* We also introduce an Agony page where you could pour out your mind on challenges facing you and seek advices from Christians all over the world. There is also a Discussion Board where popular Christian topics are canvassed. We introduce Weblink where important websites are listed. Webmasters can get in touch with us to list their Christian websites. The listing is free from now till December 2005, after which it shall be commercialised.

* As we say in the print media, this is a bumper edition. Please help us to improve our productions by giving us your opinion on the past, current and subsequent editions. We canvass your support through adverts and whatever the Lord has placed on your hearts. We are determined to stand strong to serve you better.

God bless you all.
