Simple: It's because you always did. And chances are you'll be feeling the same way, and having the same routine 10 or 20 years down the road, too. Routine is basically a good thing. It keeps us on track... and sane.
But almost everyone breathing (or whoever did) has ingrained feelings and knee-jerk reactions to people and situations that don't always work well for them. They want to change them.
They want to do things differently. But their thoughts, attitudes and beliefs that were formed back when we were crawling on the floor in diapers. They're part of who you are. They're not logical, but they pull the strings in our lives. They make us predictable.
We literally couldn't survive without them - for better or for worse. That's why change - true, positive, permanent change - can feel nearly impossible.
People have the false belief that thoughts just pop in... that they have no control. Well, in one sense that's true... since they've been programmed to believe and respond they way they do. But even identical twins who grew up in the same house and who have the same friends don't always feel the same emotions or make the same choices.
