"I discovered in recent times as we approach the coming of Christ, that members of the Church are the actual enemies of the church. They are within, causing confusion, and it is happening all over the world. The church members don't sometimes understand their pastors. They become the worst enemies sometimes. Jesus said your enemies shall be members of your household."
Apostle Achudume further disclosed that these members are always quick to point accusing fingers at their pastors, but unfortunately they deny themselves of God's blessings, because God said He will give you pastors after His heart.
"And because they are there without prospering and being blessed, they become a hindrance to others. and a problem to tbe church."
The Agricultural Management graduate man of God. also expressed his dismay at the attitude of some pastors who also pose as enemies of the Church through some of their acts.
Said he, "The pastors also outside your congregation who see what you are doing, for no reason, even when you are helping them, suspect you. Even whenyou are sincere, speak against you and blackmail you in their congregation and among other pastors."
He said that he doesn't see the devil as the problem of the church, because according to him, when the devil roar its ugly head, you simply cast him out by the power of God vested upon you.
On the state of the nation, the clergy said that Nigeria will certainly survive 2007. "If it takes all the present corrupt people to die off for the country to survive, God will do it."
As we count down to 2007, Apostle Achudume, in answer to a question on the role of the Church towards raising righteous leaders in the country, stated that the Church has two cardinal roles to play to this effect.
"While I don't believe that pastors should get involved in politics, I think the Church should be a voice in this country. We should pray more and practically ensure that the righteous gets into power. From the governorship seats to local government chairmen, we should actively ensure that these categories of people are God-fearing come 2007. Also, the Church should encourage politicians who are called to get actively involved, so that this way we could see the emergence ofrightcous people in authority come 2007."
Commenting on why Nigeria remains where she is today in spite of the enonnous resources at our disposal, the cleric stated that although the leadership question is a factor, but was quick to berate pastors who compromise their offices in lining up for contracts at government offices, as accomplice.
"We have a share of the blame.
Apostle Lawrence Achudume A situation where religious leaders line up for contracts do not augur well of their integrity and due respect to the office they occupy. What advice then can they render to elected office holders? And once you begin to do that you have lost your office."
He explained that President Obasanjo has tried, but would have done better if the Christians around had advised him properly, by telling him some bitter truths eye-ball-to-eyeball.
He prayed for God to raise more people like Pastor Tunde Bakare who stand for the truth and righteousness. "If we have 10 more of such people, Nigeria will be great again, because Ministers of God will sit up."
