Breast Feeding
The breast or mammalian glands are accessory glands of the female reproductive system. They also exist in the male but only in a rudimentary form. In the female the breast are quite small until puberty. Thereafter they grow and develop to their mature size under the influence of oestrogen and progestenone. During pregnancy, these hormore stimulate further growth. After the baby is born the hormone prolactin from the anterior pituitary stimulates the production of milk and oxytocin from the posterior pituitary stimulates the release of milk in response to the stimulation of the nipple by the sucking baby.

Breast feeding is an act of making a baby comfortable to suck or feed on milk expressed from the breast. It is hygienic and sterile food for the young infant during the first 6 months of life. It contains all the nutrition and the right proportion to meet a growing child requirements.

8. Feeding should be given according to the hunger need of the baby.
