Purpose Of The Anointing:
There are several reasons for the anointing of God upon our lives. Here are some of them:
~ To bring goodnews to the afflicted (Luke 4: 18)
~ To produce results in life and ministry (Ps. 92: 10).
~ To live a holy and pleasing life to God.
~ To equip us spiritually, physically and morally in order to flow in the enormity of the last days' assignment.
~ For demonstration of signs and wonders in the ministry (Isa. 61:1-3).
~ To make it easier for us to confront satanic machinations and silence the powers that be in the spiritual realm.
~ To enable us do things that can not be done by physical strength.
~ To be empowered with gifts for effectiveness (I Cor. 12:3-10)
~ To bring growth and increase to God's work.
~ To enable us perform well in the ministry.
~ For lasting promotion and durable prosperity.

Before proceeding further, I need to make one important clarification. Some preachers have been so shallow on their emphasis on the anointing that they have sent out the wrong signal that the anointing is what we only need and not the Holy Spirit. Many therefore see the Holy Spirit as just power and enablement, and nothing more. Such people are more concerned about getting the anointing and using it, and not the Holy Spirit using them. We must understand that the Holy Spirit and the anointing are two different things.

The Holy Spirit is the one that has the anointing, power and solely determines their distribution to whoever He wishes. It is possible for one to have the power and enablement that the Holy Spirit gives and yet lose His precious presence. So, in a balanced way, we need both the person, His power and presence in our lives. His continuous presence in our lives will produce power for living (Acts 1:8). Without the presence and power of the Holy Spirit in Our lives, we will experience the following:-

Dryness of Spiritual Live: Our lives will not be what they should be.

Growth and Success will be Impossible in God's Work:- He is the Lord of the harvest and there can be no harvest without Him.

Cold and Formal Worship:- The church will record no growth and desolation will reign supreme.

Tiredness, discouragement and being fed up in the ministry:- Many have given up the ministry because they never experienced the power and presence of the Holy Spirit.

Lack of guidance and direction:- This will definitely result in fatal and woeful failure.

Lack of spirituality which will lead to worldliness in the church.
John Calvin said, "The sin of the Old Testament is the rejection of Jehovah God. The sin of the New Testament is the rejection of the Son of God. The sin of the Church Age is the rejection of God the Holy Spirit". He is the most rejected member of the Godhead. We love the Father, pray through the name of the Son, but forget the Living Spirit. But a new day has dawn. Today, more interest in the Holy Spirit, His power and works is being reported across the globe. The Holy Spirit is working now more than ever before because He is the Vicar of the church. His time is now. It is only when He is working, touching and transforming lives through us that we can really see multiplied growth in the church and the ministry. Without Him, we cannot. Without us, He will not. We must establish a strong partnership between us and Him in order to achieve the ultimate aim of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Success is only possible through the anointing of the Holy Spirit. God wants to flow through you. He wants to touch and transform your communities through you, therefore plunge into the river of His anointing today.
