5. Just as the anointing oil was a mixture of various aromatic spices, so also the power of the Holy Spirit in· the ministry of a leader will be expressed in and through a mixture of various spiritual ways and experiences (Exo. 30:25)
6. Just as the anointing oil was a handcrafted work, so also the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian may have to take some effort and labour to form him into God's perfect will (Exod. 30:25)
7. Just as the anointing oil came from the squeezing of the fruit of the olive berry, so the anointing of the Holy Spirit upon a leader not only develops but also comes from the presence of the fruit of the Spirit in his life. (Exod. 27:20; Gal. 5:21,22).
8. Just as the holy anointing oil was pure, so the Holy Spirit will flow through a Christian's life only as he is pure before the Lord morally, emotionally and spiritually. (Exod. 27:20; I Kings 5: 11)
9. Just as the anointing oil was considered precious, so every Christian should guard and protect the Holy Spirit's anointing in his life, as he considers it to be the most valuable possession in his life. (Prov. 21 :20).
10. Just as the finest of oils were not only available in Israel but also used for the anointing oil, so every leader should realize that it is the fine quality of the work of the Holy Spirit through him that is more important than the quantity of that work (Amos 6:6; Exod. 30:23; Num. 18: 12).
11. Just as the anointing oil was sometimes worth a lot of money, so every leader must realize that for every new depth of anointing he desires to experience, there will of necessity come a giving up of certain precious things to God. The anointing costs the leader something because it cost Jesus Christ His entire life.
12. The anointing oil was not to be poured on just any person during corronation in the Bible, so also no work of the flesh is blessed by God's anointing. The anointing can not to be duplicated in any way, so we should not succumb to any lie to use any counterfeit anointing for God's work. God's true anointing cannot be faked or feigned because it is unique and direct from God.
Furthermore, these are what the anointing will do for you according to Psalm 89:20-28.
~ The hand of the Lord will bring success (89:21)
~ You will have strength by the arm of the Lord
(89:21)
~ There will be defeat for the enemies (89:22)
~ You will overcome the power of the hosts of darkness (89:23)
~ You will have God's mercy and faithfulness to help (89:22-23)
~ There is promotion and exaltation (89:24)
~ Multitudes of souls will be saved through you
(89:25)
~ You will have favour and acceptance with God.
~ You will be kept by God till the end (89:28).
Granted, the Bible is the Sword of the Spirit (Eph. 6:17). But the word alone is not enough. Truth without the power of the Spirit will deaden as much as lead to error. We need the Spirit to quicken the word and make it produce result in our lives. (II Cor. 3:3,5,6) Our prayer should be to always 6e in the spirit inorder to be more effective. For that to happen, everything must boil down to the power and presence of the Holy Spirit. Without His power and presence in our lives, nothing will really happen.
To butress the importance of the anointing of the Holy Spirit in our lives and ministry, hear this short story: A man of God hilda dream. In that dream, he saw the devil preaching to a crowd of people at a street corner. Surprised, he asked the devil, why he was preaching t.~~ .. gospel when he should busy himself damning ~Is. The devil replied that he had come to discover mat preaching without the anointing of the Holy Spirit kills and damns souls as much as cause error faster tMn anything. I sincerely hope we will not lose the lesson in that story so soon!
