What can you

Obasanjo in

the last 8

years?

It will be difficult to judge Obasanjo's government without going back to where we were coming from. Nigeria, to say the least, was a pariah nation before Obasanjo became the president. But in the last eight years, Nigeria has gone through some fundamental changes which may not be too glaring. He has helped to put Nigeria on a sound footing. Though we are not where we are suppose to be, he has taken us out from where we should not be and has set our foot on the journey to our Canaan.

Many people will not appreciate him now. But there is no way we can rubbish his commitment to the re-engineering of Nigeria. He has helped us out of debt, Nigeria's image has improved on the global front. He has also helped to create a spirit of nationalism in Nigerians. The issue of corruption has also become something that is being discussed and everybody seems to agree that it should not be entertained if we are to grow as a nation. He has no doubt proved to be a great leader. The big minus for his government is that he has not been able to fix electricity in the country. This is a big minus for him. But I think the next government can take off from there.
