The annual convention and 10th year anniversary of God of Glory Christian Church, Ikosi ketu Lagos was a splendour to behold.
The convention which opened in the evening of December 6th at the Church auditorium had Reverend Victor Adeyemi speaking on Grace for the next level. Accentuating the service that evening was the Church choir and members who all turned out in same clothe which all members wore as a symbol of oneness, agreement and unity before the Lord.
The second day saw Pastor Paul Adefarasin of House on the Rock preaching. Pastor Paul dealt on seeing the challenges of life as stepping stone to the next level. He said when the challenges come and people are deriding you for your mistakes and inadequacies, all one could say is "and so what?", noting that those challenges will come to pass inevitably.
The third day of the convention was devoted to Praising the Lord. The night witnessed what perhaps ranks as one of the biggest gospel music fiesta in Nigeria, Pastor's Praise Night.
The night witnessed some Nigerian gospel acts praising the Lord in fashions peculiar to them.
First to play that night was Evangelist Ebenezer Obey who dished out some of his old juju tunes now re-fashioned in gospel garbs. Also on stage was Yinka Ayefele, Mike Aremu, Hope Davis, Soji Israel-Ojegele, Spirit of David, Lanre Teriba, Funmi Aragbaye, Midnight Crew and the Children Ministry of the Church.
Preaching that night, Pastor Matthew Ashimolowo, related the obstacles of life as the miracles of life. He also said whatever pains we are going through in life are all temporary because some day, we would be on our feet again.
On Saturday which was the fourth day of the convention/anniversary, the pastor and pastorate of the Church recognised some workers in the Church for their contributions. About 30 workers were given various awards across the parishes of the Church.
Rounding of the convention with thanksgiving was Bishop Wale Oke of Sword of the Spirit Ministries. Bishop Oke, one of the few NIgerian clergies who have broken into the world circuits put the word across in a most simple manner that after about two hours of sermons, member said it was like 20 minutes.
Many people who gave their lives to Christ were led in prayer by the Bishop whose sermons would remain indelible in the memories of guests and members in Church that Sunday.
Speaking after the convention, Pastor Williams said organising the convention, was a rewarding and happy experience. "Not many of us have the opportunity of celebrating 10th year. Not many of us have also have the opportunity of achieving what this Church has achieved in 10 years. All we could do is to give God the glory for giving us the opportunity to do what we have just done."
"As we move into our teenage years, we look up to God for guidance. We know that God would not start what He would not finish. We know that in our Church, the Lord abides there. This is our confidence because we know that when he call upon Him, He answers. " |
