One of the great contributions of Nigeria to international community is the positive impact it is making on the spiritual lives of other countries of the world and their citizens.
Testimonies to this effect came from men from Europe and other parts of the world, at the just concluded Holy Ghost congress of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, who participated in the week-long programme.
Nigeria to them, is changing the spiritual climate of Europe and other parts of the world through the evangelistic outreaches and planting of churches by the nation's Pentecostal congregation.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of faithful at the Redemption Camp, Lagos-Ibadan Expressway venue of the annual event during the programme, Pastor Seuta, leader of the Italian delegation, said Nigerians were increasingly affecting the spiritual climate of his country. He told the congregation that Nigerians, who visit Italy for business also preach the gospel and that their spiritual endeavours were bearing fruit.
He said Italy had been at an all-time spiritual low, but that the presence of Nigerians in that country is making a difference. Seuta's testimony at the programme, was a clear contradiction to the claims that Nigerians were notorious for prostitution and crime in Italy.
Also, Pastor Whyn Lewis, from the United Kingdom, said most of the churches planted in his country in recent years, were done by Christian missionaries from Nigeria.
He lamented the lukewarm attitude of Britons to christendom, noting that only a few of them still attend church. He said he had found Christians from the West African sub-region, and mostly Nigerians, dependable partners in his ministry.
The move of the Holy Spirit in Nigeria was also applauded by well known American preacher, Pastor John Hagee while teaching on faith and joy. He said Nigerians, notably, Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, the General Overseer of The RCCG, had been emboldened by faith to do great exploits for God. He noted that the development of the extensive Redemption Camp was the product of faith.
Leaders of the delegations from Bulgaria, India, Peru and other parts of the world, at the six-day programme, also praised work of the Holy Spirit in the Nigerian church.
In his brief appearance at the programme on Friday December 15, President Olusegun Obasanjo also alluded to the impact of the church on Nigeria's image abroad.
He particularly recalled an unplanned encounter he had with Pastor Adeboye in Singapore, earlier in the year. While he was there to attend a meeting of the World Bank, Pastor Adeboye was inaugurating a branch of the Nigerian church there. "The church is succeeding in getting a good image for Nigeria where other institutions have failed, the president said.
A host of other foreign and Nigerian ministers led by Pastor Adeboye, preached on various sub-themes of the main theme - Heaven on Earth.
Pastor Adeboye opened the meeting on Monday, December 11, with an exposition on the theme and an invitation to everyone to imbibe the conditions for the dawn of God's kingdom on earth.
Other Nigerian ministers who preached or led prayers at the programme included Bishop Mike Okonkwo, Bishop David Oyedepo, Rev Wilson Badejo, Rev (Mrs.) Mercy Ezekiel, Pastor Ayo Oritsejafor, Pastor Charles Achonwa, Rev Moses Aransiola and Rev Joe Olaiya.
