CHURCH leaders might have reached a truce concerning the controversy that followed the Benny Hinn Lagos Healing Crusade Fund. The rapprochement might have been as a result of the apology tendered by the Chairman of the Local Organising Committee of the crusade, Bishop Lame Obembe, during the week for media reports that smeared the integrity of some pastors including the President of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Rev. Ayo Oritsejafor.
In a statement, Obembe said he was deeply sorry for the negative reports in the media, saying there was the need for the Church to move forward. Obembe, who had been cleared by the probe panel set up by the PFN to look into the crusade fund in another statement expressed appreciation to Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, whom he said gave the crusade ground free of charge. He then apologized on behalf of the Benny Hinn Ministries and the LOC for the embarrassment suffered by Pastor Adeboye during and after the crusade.
"Despite the fact that he was not given the necessary recognition "in his own, domain that did not deter him from coming to the crusade ground throughout the event. He is indeed a father with great love and forgiving spirit. We are sorry for all that you have been subjected to." The statement read. He thanked Bishop David Oyedepo, Dr. Uma Ukpai, Pastor Wilson Badejo, Apostle James Boyejo, Bishop Brown Oyitso and several other pastors who worked tirelessly for the success of the crusade adding that "it is only God that can reward you for your labour of love."
