ADVERTISE CREATIVELY

AND AGGRESSIVELY

'For there is no man that doeth anything in secret, and he himself seeketh to be known openly. If thou do these things, show thyself to the world" (John 7:4).

Stop winking in the dark, as only you know what you are doing, but your potential guests don't know. Nobody will know what God has done, what God is doing and what God wants to do in your church, ifthere is no adequate awareness created. Several pastors have prayed too much for meetings and angels came down in answer, and in great number, to distribute gifts and divine blessings to the people, but the attendance is abnormally low and discouraging. Infact, Angels are more in attendance than the people who come. Why? You notified heaven adequately but you failed to notify enough people on earth to attend.

If your church is small, or in an obscured location or in a place with low visibility, you will need to do something to make your church known to potential guests. The following tips have helped churches to grow.

1. PROVIDE QUALITY FIRST IMPRESSION BROCHURE. This is a brochure that is given to new people as a way to briefly inform them about your church. Your first impression piece, should be designed and written with unchurched people in mind. It should be attractive and useable in a variety of: s~uations. .
(a) The brochure should contain the following information.

* Your church's name, complete address, phone numbers, e-mail address and your website
* The times of your various programmes and venue
* Special features of your church
* Statements about benefits of attending your church
* Testimonies of your worshippers
(b) At the beginning of the year mail this brochure to everyone within a five minute drive of your church.

To buy this book,
visit his website. at www. christian leadership skills .org

(c) Graduate this, the next year, by mailing the brochure to! everyone within a ten-minute drive of your church.
(d) By the third year, mail it to everyone within a fifteen minute drive of your church

2. PRODUCE EXCELLENT PUBLICITY MATERIALS
It costs to standout. It is costlier to invest so much on fliers, posters and handbills and not to be noticed by anyone. Go for the best pUblicity materials. Pick samples of the best quality around and improve on it. Remember, your current work

If your church Is small, or In an obscured location or In
a place With low visibility, you will need to do something to malfe your church Ifnown to potential guests.

3. PUSH OUT ABUNDANCE OF MATERIALS
Dont assess your publicity efforts on the quantity of your materials, but on the population of your community. For instance, Lagos State is estimated to have about 15 million people. A church sending out 5,000 handbills should not be praising her efforts.
The question to be asked is "what is the ratio ofthe quantity of your publicity materials and the entire population."

4. USE TESTIMONIALS (MOUTH BILL)
Testimonies of impact in your previous outings are one of the most powerful validations of your ministry. The impact of word of mouth is more powerful than written words. Along with your printed handbills, use mouth bill.

5. RESEARCH YOUR TARGET AUDIENCE
What are their interests, preferences and selling points? What are their income levels, marital status, educational levels, occupations, spiritual background and life styles.

What services, programmes, topics and ministries are most important to them. What makes then tick? It is your audience that will determine your publicity strategy.

6. ADVERTIZE YOUR CHURCH
Your church needs to reach people where they live, so as to encourage them to attend. 90% of your target audience will never attend your church. They are more likely to watch and listen to your messages in the privacy and comfort of their own homes. Avenues for reaching the multitude will include radio, teleVision, video and audio cassettes, DVD, internet, telecast, literature etc. The wider your coverage, the more will be the patronage.
